It's not a bag. It's a Birkin.

First time when i watched "Sex and City" i must admit i didn't even know what Hermes or Birkin meant at that time, ofcourse that was long time ago, but that didn't stop me from laughing at Samantha and her small tricks to come to the bag (excuse me Birkin) of her dreams ^^

So today i decided to write about this famous and most amazing bag. Back in 1981. Hermes chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas was sitting next to actress Jane Birkin on a flight from Paris to London. She had just placed her straw bag in overhead compartment, but the contains fell to the deck. Birkin explained to Dumas how difficult it was for her to find a leather weekend bag she liked. In 1984. he created a black supple leather bag for her based on as 1892. design. Since then the bag become as icon.

Today anyone who knows even a little about fashion or designer handbags knows about Hermes Birkin bag. It is most known and recognizable bag, they're currently "the most expensive bag in the world". It's prices range from $9000 $150000, costs escalate according to the type of materials.

The bags are handmade in France by expert artisans. Each bag is hand-sewn, buffed, painted and polished. taking several days to finish but an average bag is created in 48 hours. For many years bag was reputed for having a waiting list up to 6 years which is longest wait time for any bag in history. As a result of the strong demand in April 2010, Hermes announced that the waiting list would no longer exist, implying that it is potentially available to all.

The most expensive Birkin ever made today is worth 1,9$ million each, crafted from gold and encased with a lot of gems, their bodies seem to be made of leather. These handbags are totally not for wearing in public :)

Hermes Birkin is definitely most wanted bag ever due it's sophisticated, absolutely stunning yet simple look. I don't know what else could say about this bag that haven't been said before. So i'll let you enjoy them.

Since 1984, after Hermes first introduced, this bag become the bag of luxury. So unattainable, the Birkin will always remain as every girl's WANNA-BE item, i know for sure it is mine :)
